Why The XFL Will Never Be The NFL

The NFL has been around for over 50yrs and still is evolving every season. With the introduction of the XFL, it seems more like a feeding ground in between college and NFL. If you haven’t watched any games up until this point, I don’t blame ya. You won’t recognize almost any player names, the QB play is terrible, and the broadcast feels cheaply done. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset with all this, I’m happy we have football on mid-winter. The problem is that what the XFL is trying to do is BE the NFL. Without big names, prime time broadcast, fantasy leagues, and even realizing you have an XFL team in your town. These are all problems that come with a new league, of course. But the real issue is they aren’t different and not as good. Yes, they have a few different rules and have XTREME in their name, but it’s not what we think as football. I’ve compiled a list of ways the XFL can achieve greatness! .

1.DON’T BE LIKE THE NFL

We already have poor college play, we don’t need another league to give us mediocre football. Change more rules, change how people view the game, try so many things that the NFL is scared to do and do it!

2. PAY FOR BIG NAMES

Vince McMahon needs to get that checkbook out and pay for some top-level talent to get some eyes on the game. Sure, the first week has around 2 million views, but I’m sure this 2nd week dropped way off. Grab and old players like Brady or Rivers and pay them so much they can’t say no.

3. Make the XFL playoffs a must watch

Vince is good at creating storylines and he needs one here to play with the big boys. March Madness is weeks away and so is the XFL playoffs.... How are you going to get me, and average sports fan to tune into the playoffs when something better is on tv? I need some damn storylines!

4. LET PLAYERS ENTER THE NFL DRAFT

This is clearly why all the guys are playing in the XFL, they want their shot at the big leagues. Work out some payment structure to benefit the XFL and your stars so if they ever get cut you get them back.

5. Create A XFL OFFSEASON DOC

This might sound crazy, but I know everyone who loves football, loves Hard Knocks. Do what they did but do it for your top 3 teams so I can see some personalities on screen. Because all I get now is huffy and puffy sideline interviews lol.
