Weekend Bets to help you afford Toilet Paper and Hand Sanitizer
This week has been the strangest time I've had during my 32 years of being on this planet. The Coronavirus aka “COVID-19” has been an unstoppable force and causing panic across the world. The NBA and NHL have suspended there regular season and the NCAA tournament has been straight up canceled.
Now I understand that precautions need to be taken and since I am someone with a compromised immune system, I would be lying if I said I wasn't at all worried. That being said, I'm a degenerate and have been scratching my head at what I'm going to bet on. Everything that I bet on is done for the foreseeable future. Well, almost everything. UFC will still have the fights go on without fans in the audience. This will be really weird for the fighters I'm sure. If there's anyone that will tell the Coronavirus to get lost, it's Dana White.
So since at the moment the fights are on, buckle and get ready to win some cash with these locks for UFC Fight Night 170!
Now I understand why Gilbert Burns is favored here. He's leaps and bounds a better striker than Maia and he's also very solid at BJJ, so Maia will not be able to submit him with ease like other opponents. Also, Maia is 42 fucking years old!
There is one thing I learned over the years about MMA. It's never count out Damien Maia. It seems to be his only Kryptonite is high level wrestlers with above average striking. Both fighters are on win streaks so the momentum is even. That is why I'm picking the underdog. Put it in the books! Damien Maia +155
Before his last loss, Johnny Walker was highly hyped and considered a potential opponent for Jon Jones and the light heavyweight belt. That is until he got knocked out by Corey Anderson. Walker came in way to confident and ended up making a mistake and getting caught. He's going up against Nikita Krylov, who is struggling with a 1-2 record since his return to the UFC. I'm going with the favorite in this one, Walker has freak athleticism and all the talent in the world to bring him to the top of the division. He will be the winner and it will probably be by knockout. Put it in the books! Johnny Walker -150
This is a fight that I'm pumped for! Charles Oliveira has been on a tear lately winning six in a row. Kevin Lee has been struggling only winning 2 of his last 5, but winning his last fight by 1st round head kick of lightweight rising star Gregor Gillespie. He left Vegas to go train with highly touted trainer Firas Zahabi. Zahabi has trained former Bellator welterweight champ Rory MacDonald and Former UFC welterweight/middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre. The man is no joke.
I think in this fight, Lee will be to big and strong for Oliveira and will not allow Oliveira control when it comes to grappling. If Lee wants to keep this fight standing he should easily be able too. Put it in the books!
Kevin Lee -145
So there ya go, this weekend's pick to get your mind off of the pandemic. Remember, lifes a gamble, but as a certified degenerate, I wouldn't want it any other way.
