Here are all the tips I’ve learned over the last 10yrs podcasting. Whether you’ve already started or about to launch your 1st one!

1. Don’t buy expensive gear.

Your phone will work great until you really start going.

2. Find solid podcast hosting

Podcast.co, Podiant, Libsyn. Research and see what platform you like.

3. Don’t over prep.

Plan 2 or 3 mock pods to see how it will flow and adjust from there.

4. Pick a topic and stick with it.

People trust to come to your podcast an hear about xyz, not some product review of a new spoon. Niche is a winner in the podcast

5. Pick the format.

This is a big one for most podcast. If you want to do an NPR style you're going to have to have hours of post-editing to do. IF you want something more like Joe Rogan, the post-work will be very minimal.

6. Keep on schedule.

Think about most of your favorite tv shows or movies. Movies always get released on Fridays, not a random Tuesday morning. When you have a schedule your fans will get excited for your new pod every week. It will also give a ton of trust to the listener because hell be able to count on your pod for his commute or gym sesh.

7. Grow your audience.

Listen when JDawg and i start The Sports Hangover we got excited when 1 person downloaded it way back in 2011. So don’t beat yourself up if only a few people listen.make the best show you can. Good content always rises to the top.

8. Create a Quality podcast graphic.

This may sound super simple but you want to grab the attention of people browsing for new pods. Make something easy to read and eye-catching

9. Get a solid intro!

Not all podcast needs a radio like an intro, but if that’s what you’re going for make sure it’s something that sounds high quality because its the first things people will hear when they tune in

10. Naming you pod -

This is tough because i know there are some podcast names you’re like wtf does that even mean and some that sound really great. Make it whatever you want but try and think about someone telling a Freind about it. If they can’t say the name how will the word of mouth go around about it.
